Our 2017 project at Elizabeth House involved the complete internal refurbishment of the existing building. Plus, external alterations, to assist the NHS to launch a new location based in Exeter delivering outpatient consultation services along with staff offices. The refurbishment was a custom design and planned by Kirkham Board Associates and delivered by Charteroak (South West) Limited.

Internal meeting rooms and office spaces had to be created in such a way as to maximise the space and provide a soundproof environment. There was also the requirement to supply and install fireproof internal walls and doors to a high level TRADA specification. In addition, we also provided mechanical elements such as a new boiler and heating system. Trunking along walls and vertical drops had to be in place to provide connectivity throughout the building, as well as a secure data server room. New kitchen and toilet facilities were also created, so that the building was self-sufficient and a nice atmosphere to work in.

The interior design was specifically chosen to bring the feeling of it being open, inviting and friendly, so the lighting, office furniture, ceiling and flooring provided both a modern and high standard of finish. The exterior work meant the building had a functional upgrade as well as a cosmetic one.

The high-quality successful completion, to a tight time scale and budget, allowed the NHS staff to move in smoothly and continue to provide a much needed and relied upon service.

Charteroak (South West) Limited were very proud and considered themselves to be privileged to have worked on such a project in conjunction with Devon Partnership Trust and Kirkham Board Associates.
